For 60 years we have been going through needle and thread together – a family business in its third generation.

The history of the Bischof company begins in the 1940s with the training of Max Bischof as a precision mechanic in Erlangen at the Paul-Gossen company shortly after the Second World War.

The company was officially founded on February 10, 1964, by Max and Maria Bischof. Starting with a small shop selling household sewing machines, typewriters, and adding machines, the company quickly established itself in the region. In 1966 , a workshop was added to the house to meet growing demand.

The 1970s brought a major upswing for the company, which developed successfully despite the global oil crisis. The increasing demand for industrial sewing machines in Germany and Austria led to several expansions of the business premises.

In the 1980s , the Bischof company, by then joined by Alexandra and Holger Bischof, expanded its reach by directly importing sewing machines from Japan and founded the "BISON" brand. The 1990s were marked by new partnerships that continue to this day, particularly with the company HoHsing from Taiwan.

With the new millennium, the company continued to grow. Exports of sewing machines expanded to countries such as Uruguay, Sri Lanka, Korea, China, and many Eastern European countries. This led to the construction of our large production hall in 2001 .

In the 2010s , the family's children, Anja and Benedikt, joined the company. In 2015 , the " EUROMAC " brand was successfully registered and protected.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 presented the company with new challenges, but also offered opportunities. The high demand for masks led the company to begin producing fabric masks, which were manufactured in its own sewing workshop . Two years later, the company expanded and opened its retail store , and Benedict's wife, Sarah Bischof, joined the business.

Bischof GmbH looks back on over 60 years of success and continues to focus on growth, innovation, and family tradition. Today, together with our 12-person team, we concentrate on developing our own sewing drives , producing specialized textile solutions , and managing our international network .

Portrait von Alexandra Bischof

Since 1988

Alexandra Bischof

As the daughter of the two founders, Alexandra has known the company since childhood. After completing her commercial training and gaining several years of professional experience, she returned to the family business. Together with her husband Holger, she has been driving the company forward for almost 40 years and is not afraid of making important strategic decisions. Alexandra is the "boss" of the numbers and finances in our company.

Portrait von Holger Bischof

Since 1985

Holger Bischof

Holger could be described as a walking encyclopedia. A trained master electrician, he has acquired the fundamentals of the sewing industry over many decades and can now draw on extensive expertise. With his technical skill, he finds sensible solutions for even the most specific customer requests. For 40 years, Holger has regularly traveled the world to ensure that the Bischof company remains competitive in the industry.

Portrait von Anja Bischof

Since 2013

Anja Bischof

As a trained clothing technician, Anja combines creativity with technical expertise. She manages our in-house sewing workshop and develops sophisticated textile solutions together with our customers. Since 2022, Anja has also run our shop for household sewing machines, fabrics, and haberdashery. Personalized expert advice is her top priority. Anja regularly offers sewing courses on various topics.

Portrait von Benedikt Bischof

Since 2019

Benedict Bishop

After completing his studies, the graduate industrial engineer joined the family business. Benedikt manages the daily balancing act between hands-on work in the workshop and administrative tasks in the office. He immerses himself in complex IT topics just as readily as he does in the latest sewing machine technology. Regular trips to Asia and the rest of the world help him stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

Portrait von Sarah Bischof

Since 2023

Sarah Bischof

After completing her studies, Sarah gained valuable experience at an international corporation. Now, the business administration graduate (MSc) is truly "infected with the sewing machine bug" at Bischof Sewing Machines. She meticulously handles customs matters and is primarily responsible for developing our online shop and integrating AI tools. Our marketing and social media presence also come from Sarah.

Portrait von Hund Zoe

Since 2021

Zoe

Zoe also prefers to be right in the thick of things rather than just a bystander. As "foreign minister," nothing escapes her notice. She loves being out and about with Holger in the woods or by the water. Treats are as much a part of a perfect workday for her as regular cuddles.

Since 2025

Nala

The little leopard-print Labrador is our youngest member and has already settled into her duties well. Nala always gives 100% and is consistently motivated. True to her Labrador nature, she never says no to a treat. She's our recycling officer and passionately enjoys shredding cardboard boxes.

Portrait von Hund Maya

2012 - 2025

In memory of Maya

The German Shepherd mix, Maya, assisted Anja in our shop and was a very experienced employee. She always kept a watchful eye on what was happening and was always happy to receive a treat. Her breaks at the harbor or in the woods were among the highlights of her workday.
